South Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and the Prime Minister’s Small Food Enterprises Regularization Scheme (PMFME), a seminar on food processing industry was held under the chairmanship of Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce L. Nirmalraj in the presence of District Collector S. Kandasamy at Erode on Friday.
In his speech, the Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce said that the food processing entrepreneurs here should know the methods available for exporting and take advantage of the buyers (foreign companies)-sellers (local companies) meeting to be held in Erode next month to become exporters.
So, entrepreneurs need to start new businesses under the Needs Scheme, Ambedkar Industrial Pioneers Scheme, PMEGP, PMFME schemes. Those who are starting a business can use the Tamil Nadu Government’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Policy 2021 to expand their businesses. Infrastructure facilities are being improved on behalf of various government departments and the district administration to create an environment for starting a business in this district. Ponmanchal Micro Industries Group, Food Park in Erode district, Storage warehouses, food processing and cooling stations, Special plots in SIDCO are available to start agriculture-related industries, he said.
Erode District Collector, in his speech, said that the annual bank credit target for micro, small and medium enterprises in Erode district is Rs.10551 cr. Out of this, in the first quarter, banks in our district have given loans of Rs 4745 cr to micro, small and medium enterprises. This is 45 percent of the credit target for this year.
He said that food processing entrepreneurs here should learn about the export procedures through APEDA, Guidance Tamilnadu, SICCI, and the MSME department and become exporters, he advised.
