Sons’ Property Feud Leaves Father’s Body Unburied for Three Days

A distressing scene has unfolded in Old Solasa village of Palnadu district, where the body of an 85-year-old man has remained unburied for three days as his sons clash over inheritance.

The deceased, Anjaneyulu, a hardworking farmer who once toiled as a daily wage labourer before acquiring 20 acres of agricultural land, passed away last week due to ill health. After his wife’s death a decade ago, Anjaneyulu lived under the care of his younger son, Venkateswarulu, while his elder son, Nageswara Rao, settled in Telangana with his family.

When news of Anjaneyulu’s death reached Nageswara Rao, he rushed to his native village. However, as relatives and neighbours gathered to conduct the final rites, he allegedly halted the burial, demanding half of his father’s property before allowing the cremation.

“You give me my share of the property and then perform the funeral,” he is said to have insisted, preventing the coffin from being taken for burial. His younger brother, Venkateswarulu, refused, claiming he had already given two acres of land to his elder sibling after their mother’s demise and had solely cared for their father since then.

Repeated pleas from villagers, relatives, and even local authorities have failed to resolve the dispute. The Panchayat and police have warned that if the impasse continues, the body will be buried by the local administration.

For now, the lifeless body of Anjaneyulu remains heartbreakingly at his doorstep — a grim reminder of how greed has overshadowed a father’s final journey home.
