SVPISTM Signs MoU with Shree Renga Polyester to Boost Textile Innovation

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPISTM), Coimbatore, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shree Renga Polyester Pvt. Ltd., Karur, a leading firm in PET bottle recycling and sustainable textile manufacturing, to foster eco-friendly innovations in the textile industry.
The MoU was signed between Mr. Sankar Kanagasabai, Chairman of Shree Renga Polyester Pvt. Ltd., and Dr. P. Alli Rani, Director of SVPISTM, in the presence of Dr. M. Venkatalakshmi, Head of the Department of Management. The collaboration aims to facilitate joint research, student projects, industrial training, and sustainable product development.
Mr. Senthil Sankar, Managing Director of Shree Renga Polyester, detailed the company’s initiatives in recycling over 1.5 million PET bottles daily into high-quality textile products. He also emphasized their focus on biodegradable and recycled materials, reaffirming the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Dr. P. Alli Rani lauded the institution’s green initiatives, highlighting that SVPISTM is the only college in India where students actively calculate their carbon footprint on campus. She encouraged students to engage in projects that align with global sustainability goals.
The event concluded with Mr. Rajesh Kumar and Mr. M. Prakash, Assistant Professors from the Textile Department, leading a campus tour showcasing the laboratories and infrastructure supporting research and
innovation.
The MoU marks a major step in linking academia with industry to build a sustainable textile future.
