Will the EC probe on vote theft charge

Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi has once again levelled a scathing allegation against the Election Commission. Speaking at a press conference in Delhi yesterday, Rahul Gandhi openly accused Election Commissioner of India Gyanesh Kumar of protecting “vote thieves” and being complicit in the killing of democracy.
Rahul Gandhi also presented some evidence to prove his allegations. Speaking, he said, “The names of lakhs of voters in India have been systematically removed from various constituencies. This is a big scam.” He also mentioned that shocking information like the “hydrogen bomb” he had announced earlier would be released soon.
The Election Commission immediately responded to Rahul Gandhi’s allegations, calling them “false and baseless”. It clarified that “no individual can delete a voter’s name online. Any deletion will take place only after giving the affected person an opportunity.”
Rahul Gandhi used data from Karnataka’s Alanth assembly constituency to make his case, alleging that Congress supporters’ votes were deliberately deleted before the election, and pointed to an investigation being conducted by the Karnataka Police’s Criminal Investigation Department.
“The Chief Election Commissioner knows who is doing this. The Karnataka CID has sent 18 letters to the Election Commission in 18 months to find out where this operation is taking place. But they have not responded.”
“Rahul Gandhi’s constant allegations against political institutions show his and the Congress party’s lack of faith in Indian democracy. If Rahul Gandhi feels that his complaints have merit, he can go to court. The Congress candidate has won from the constituency he claimed. Could he have won if there had been vote rigging?” the BJP has questioned.
“Therefore, the Election Commission is protecting the killers of democracy,” is Rahul Gandhi’s main allegation. It is noteworthy that former Chief Election Commissioner Qureshi had advised a few days ago that the best practice would be for the Election Commission to investigate the veracity of the allegations made by the opposition leader, rather than dismissing them.
No one can deny that it is a democratic duty for Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi to raise allegations against the Union Government. He also says that there is more evidence. Therefore, before these allegations become a story, the Election Commission of India should come forward for a serious investigation.
This issue is not ordinary. Vote rigging is seen as a stumbling block to the democracy. Rahul Gandhi’s allegation is true. The Election Commission’s answer is no. It is very important that the truth comes out. The Election Commission has been tarnished. It is more important than anything else to completely wipe it off. All that is needed is a comprehensive, proper and honest investigation.
Will the Election Commission of India conduct an investigation?
