A tragic incident shocked Bengaluru on Monday when a 34-year-old man died after jumping from the third floor of a popular shopping mall.
The deceased has been identified as Sagar, a resident of Bengaluru and an engineering dropout. According to police, Sagar had been struggling with unemployment and was reportedly undergoing treatment for depression.
The incident occurred at GT World Mall in Magadi Road around noon. Eyewitnesses said Sagar suddenly climbed over the railing on the third floor and jumped, landing on the ground floor with severe injuries. He died on the spot.
Panic spread through the mall as shoppers screamed and ran for safety. Security personnel immediately alerted the Cholurpalya Police, who rushed to the scene and sent the body for post-mortem to Victoria Hospital.
Investigating officers said Sagar’s family confirmed he had been facing emotional distress due to joblessness. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the mall to confirm the sequence of events.
Authorities have registered a case of unnatural death and are conducting further inquiries. The shocking incident has left mall visitors and staff deeply shaken.
